Welcome to my new Hearth Arts space! I'm still setting up and learning how things work here. I'm already enjoying having more room to write and share my photos. The move was long overdue, which is the only explanation I can come up with for why I decided to delve into staring at templates in the middle of summer.
I wanted a space where my photos presented optimally, but since I am not tech minded, I needed a platform that isn't too challenging. I think I have come to the right place.
More than anything though, the move was prompted by the passing of time and the need for growth. As you may know from my About page or from following this blog previously, our family is not the same as when I wrote my first post in 2009. We are missing one. (You may read about Aaron in the archived posts).
Olivia is now a teenager, no longer a third grader.
While I still don't consider myself a photographer, I embrace the art as a passion now. My early photos with my point and shoot make me cringe, and it was precisely that embarrassment that set me on the path to improvement.
I have been writing essays, in addition to this blog, for well over a year, and while this has been great for my writing, it has caused what I would describe as my first ever blogging block. I am designing this space with flexibility in mind, so posts can be a photo with just a few words, long stories, or something in between.
I hope that you will join me in the next phase of Hearth Arts.
